Quando ci vuole ci vuole!

Il tempo scarseggia ma certe manutenzioni non si possono rimandare e vanno fatte prima della partenza.

Quindi, una passata veloce di vernice epossidica per tamponare alla meglio i segni più profondi e la linea di chiglia, "duramente" intaccata dai recenti utilizzi. Poi, una passata di raspa-pialla per lisciare i gibboni più grossi e, se proprio serve, un secondo ritocco di vernice ed un'altra lisciata: alla fine, il kayak è pronto per il nuovo viaggio.

I puristi della manutenzione inorridiranno al pensiero di "attaccare" il kayak con una raspa-pialla... ma l'importante è avere uno scafo che galleggi. Ai pesci poco interessano le sfumature della vernice o il suo grado di finitura. Ci interessa ottenere una efficace manutenzione strutturale, l'estetica viene dopo... molto dopo... E poi, tutto sommato, devo dire che il kayak porta ancora molto bene i suoi 10 anni di attività e le oltre 10.000 miglia di navigazione!

 

The time is ending but certain works cannot be postponed and must be done before the trip.
So, a fast coat of epoxy paint to collide the deepest signs and the line of the hull, notched by the recent uses. Then, a work of rasp-planes for smoothing the biggest gibbons and, if really necessary, a second retouch of paint and another smooth: at the end, the kayak is ready for the new trip.
The purists of the maintenance works will horrify "to attach" the kayak with a rasp-planes: but the most important thing is to have a floating hull. The fishes are not so interested in tones and colours of the paint. We just want an effectiveness structural maintenance, the aesthetics comes in a second place... And to say the truth, the kayak shows very well its age: 10 years of activity and more than 10,000 nautical miles of navigation!
